NSFA, PANACAN, Davao City, 24 March 2015 - Government forces continue to gain high powered firearms and other war materiel in separate encounters in Compostela Valley on March 24, 2015. In New Bataan, a 30min fire fight broke after a group of NPA bandits fired upon the patrolling troops of the 66th Infantry Battalion on Tuesday morning.
There were no reported casualties on both sides but the troops were able to recover 2 VHF Radio (YAESU), 2 bandoliers for M16 rifle with 2 magazines, one magazine for AK47, 4 backpacks, 1 IED with switch and electrical wire, personal belongings and several subversive documents.
In a separate incident on the same day, operating troops of 25th Infantry Battalion encountered NPA bandits at Brgy Hamiguitan in the town of Mongkayo
.
No casualties were reported on both sides but troops recovered one M16 rifle, one M14 rifle an AK 47 rifle, radio, one motorcycle and personal belongings after the NPA bandits scampered to different directions.
Meanwhile Lt General Aurelio Baladad, Commander of the Eastern Mindanao Command vowed to sustain the operations to protect the civilian communities.
"Our troops will continue to run after these bandits even in their lairs, in order to prevent them from intimidating the communities and launching more offensives in an apparent move to accumulate tactical gains, in preparation for their anniversary on the 29th of March", Baladad said.
