NSFA, PANACAN, Davao City, 24 March 2015 - Two NPA bandits from Davao Region surrendered separately to government forces on March 22, 2015.
A certain alias Makjie voluntarily surrendered without firearm to elements of 67IB at Brgy. Central, Cateel,Davao Oriental in the afternoon that day.
The 22-year old surrenderee is believed to have left the organization after he was disillusioned.
In a separate occasion, a certain Mike, an NPA medics, also voluntarily surrendered without firearm to 60 Infantry Battalion at Sitio Palo, Brgy. Limbaan, New Corella, Davao del Norte. Accordingly, alias Mike approached the troops after he was convinced by his barangay mates to come down from the hinterlands of Davao del Norte.
Both surrenderees will be enrolled in the Comprehensive Local Integration Program for them to be assisted in reintegrating into mainstream society.
A total of 30 NPAs have already surrendered in the Eastmincom AOR for the year. Lt General Aurelio Baladad welcomed the influx of surrenderees amidst the coming of the NPA anniversary on the 29th of March, and encouraged other NPAs to follow.
"We are happy on the decision of our two brothers to be back in the folds of the law and live a peaceful life.
We are encouraging our other brothers who are still with the NPA organization to come down, surrender your firearms and live a peaceful life with your family", Baladad said.
