MANILA – A member of the Philippine Army was killed in an ambush by suspected Abu Sayyaf Group in Patikul, Sulu on Sunday morning.
Army Corporal Arjan Punzalan of the Intelligence Service Group was on board his motorcycle when shot by undetermined number of gunmen under the Abu Sayyaf' Ajang-Ajang group at 6:15 a.m. in the vicinity of Sitio Buahan-Buahan in Barangay Latih.
Punzalan had just come from the residence of his father-in-law and was heading to Jolo when the attack happened.
He died of multiple gunshot wounds.
