MALUNGON, Sarangani – The local government is set to provide livelihood assistance to three former members of the New People’s Army who recently surrendered to military authorities here.
Vice-Mayor Erwin Asgapo said the NPA surrenderees – Buroy Mato, Fernando Menanga and Meon Tamba – will be given livelihood assistance under the government’s Comprehensive Local Integration Program.
He said the former NPA rebels, who are B’laan tribesmen from Barangay Tamban here, decided to surrender after realizing the difficulties and hardships they had gone through while they were in the underground movement.
“The former rebels were convinced to return to the folds of the law after seeing the development programs that were provided by the local government to the marginalized sectors of the community,” Asgapo said.
