NAGA CITY – Philippine Army’s 9th Infantry (Spear) Division personnel offered a mass and prayers for the fallen soldiers of the Philippines in previous encounters and the Zamboanga City humanitarian crisis.
Captain Mardjorie Panesa, public information officer of the division, said that the mass was celebrated at St. Martin of Tours chapel in Pili. Later, prayers were offered at the Heroes Memorial at the 9ID headquarters in Camp Elias Angeles, also in Pili, which is a commemoration of all the fallen soldiers of 9ID who lost their lives in combat.
Meanwhile, no untoward events were recorded by Bicol police during the entire course of the celebration of All Saint’s Day here.
Regional Director Police Chief Superintendent Victor Deona said that the conduct of “Undas” was generally peaceful owing to the presence of police and Army forces in checkpoints and information booths for Oplan Kalag (Spirit).
He said that there were no additional forces installed other than what was formerly stationed here.
