Army troopers encounters NPA in Albay

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES,Pili, Camarines Sur (DWDD) – Army troopers engaged members of the New People’s Army (NPA) at Sitio Guinimbalan, Barangay Togbon in Oas Town, Albay.

Based on reports sent to the Headquartersof the 9th Infantry Division by Lt. Col. Perfecto Penaredondo, Commanding Officer of the 2nd Infantry Battalion, the troops were conducting security operation in the area when they chanced upon 3 rebels.

The encounter lasted 3-minutes until the rebels were forced to flee.

There were no casualties reported on the government side while it was undetermined on the enemy side.

The government has heightened security operations, especially during the holy week, because of the influx of devotees, vacationers and tourist, who might fall victims to rebels.
