CAMP GEN AGUINALDO, Quezon City (DWDD) – The Armed Forces of the Philippines condemns the employment of roadside bombs by the New People’s Army (NPA) rebels along Los Arcos, Prosperidad, Agusan Del Sur at 9:00pm on March 14, 2015 which led to the death of three soldiers and the wounding of 15 other soldiers belonging to the2nd Scout Ranger Battalion.
The use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in armed conflict is a clear violation of UN Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW or CCWC), particularly theConvention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May Be Deemed to Be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects.
