REAR ADMIRAL ALEXANDER S LOPEZ assumes as the 25th Commander of Western Command Armed Forces of the Philippines

He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy’s Class of 1982. He graduated number 1 in the Naval Staff Course, Naval Education and Training Command, San, Antonio Zambales in 1994. He also finished with flying colors the  Naval Intelligence Officers’ Course in 1986. He completed his schooling in Naval Staff College, Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island, USA  in 2000. In 2001, he finished the Defense Resource Management Course in Australia. He graduated Number 1 in the Officer Advance Intelligence Officers’ Course and in Strategic Intelligence Course in 2002. He also earned his Master in Business Economics at the University of Asia and the Pacific (UAP).Prior his assumption of the Western Command leadership, Rear Admiral Lopez was the Deputy Chief of Staff for Education and Training, J8 at the General Headquarters AFP. He was also the Commander, Fleet-Marine Ready Force, Philippine Navy (2012-2013); Commander, Joint Task Force Malampaya, Western Command (2011-2012); Assistant Chief of Naval Staff for Operations, N3, HQS, PN (2009-2011); Philippine Defence and Armed Forces Attaché – Singapore (2006-2009); Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence, N2, HQS, PN (2003-2006); Chief, Foreign Training Division, OJ8, GHQ, AFP (2003); Chief, Manpower and Organization Division, OJ3, GHQ, AFP (2001-2003); Assistant Chief of Fleet Staff, F3, HQS Philippine Fleet, PN (2001); Commanding Officer, BRP Bacolod City, (LC 550) (2000-2001); Acting Commanding Officer, BRP Ang Pangulo (AT-25) (1999); Executive Officer, BRP Ang Pangulo (AT-25) (1999); Commanding Officer, PG-387, PG-376, PG-379 (1996-1999).Rear Admiral Lopez earned various awards and decorations for eminently meritorious service in positions of major responsibilities, distinguished heroism and outstanding airmanship.  He is a recipient of several Distinguished Service Star (DSS), Outstanding Achievement Medal (OAM), Distinguished Navy Cross (DNC), Bronze Cross Medal (BCM), Senior Command Instructor Badge with Star, Gawad sa Kaunlaran Medal, Military Merit Medal (MMM), Military Commendation Medal (MCM), United Nations Medal (UNM), UN Transitional Authority to Cambodia (UNTAC) Medal and Long Service Medal to name a few.
